Jared's passion for education has led him to teach in a number of capacities, from theatre and music education to mentoring and group facilitating.

Arts Education

Workshop Assistant, Administrator, Strategy Lead; Lewisham Urban Opera; Music and Theatre For All (Sep 2021-July 2022)
Assist in leading community workshops focused on singing, movement, and design to ultimately devise our own 'opera' for the Borough of Lewisham.

Co-Head of Theatre, Kingsley Pines Camp (Jul-Aug 2020)
Facilitated improvisation, character-building exercises, and movement work, ultimately devising an original play with campers.

Assistant Conductor, Jerusalem Youth Chorus (Aug 2019-June 2020)
Led warm-ups and rehearsals, taught vocal technique, provided vocal coaching, and sectional rehearsals for this Israeli-Palestinian music and dialogue program.

Teaching Artist, Morse Chorale, Morse Summer Music Academy (Summer 2018 & 2019)
Conducted a chamber choir, taught one-to-one voice lessons, and led sectional rehearsals for youth ages 10-17.

Teaching Artist, Yale School of Music's Music in Schools Initiative (Sep 2016-May 2019)
Supported local public school chorus classes, assisted in weekly Morse Chorale rehearsals, and helped facilitate a group of local high school students in writing and performing their own original musical.

Urban Fellow/Education Intern, Long Wharf Theatre Education Department (Sep 2016-May 2018)
Facilitated talk-backs with the audience after company performances, taught acting classes, led a devised theatre project, helped lead a playwrighting program at a nursing home, and wrote teacher information packets on plays.

Dialogue Co-Facilitator, Jerusalem Youth Chorus (Aug 2019-June 2020)
Promoted intercultural dialogue and conflict resolution by facilitating arts-infused activities and discussions on trust, listening, and team-building with this Israeli-Palestinian music and dialogue program.

Academic Strategies Peer Mentor, Yale Poorvu Center of Teaching and Learning (Sep 2018-May 2019)
Co-led workshops on a variety of academic success skills and mentored peers one-to-one on strategies and tools they could use to improve their academics.

Teaching Assistant & Residential Counselor, Bowdoin College Upward Bound (Jun-Aug 2016)
Tutored first-generation low-income students during this college access program, led group study sessions, and taught academic success skills. Also conducted a chamber choir with the students.

Assisted in leading group discussions and team-building activities with Maine high school students. Organized and analyzed data from the students to improve program.

Staff Member, Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp Program (2010-2015)
Served as a facilitator for groups at this summer camp, leading discussions about leadership skills and the problems facing middle school students while also conducting team-building activities. Also facilitated one-day programs at various local schools, served on the Advisory Board, and oversaw many committees.
